This is the fig-distilled arak that put Zachlawi on the map. It is bottled in a Passover run and carries the OU-P seal, so it can stay on the seder table for all eight days.
Mood: Seder night digestif, or a quiet Chol HaMoed pour.
Our sommelier says
Fig Arak dressed as kosher for Passover. The recipe is identical and the bottle is the same fig shape, with certification for the chag.
Tasting notes
Dried fig and anise seed with cardamom and orange blossom. It is lightly sweet and round, like fig jam over clean anise. The finish is warming and long, as fig yields to licorice.
Food pairing
Serve with Pesach mezze, lamb shank, or dried fruit and nuts, or with strong coffee after the meal.
