From Tzafona comes Nava Ruby, a semi-sweet red from Niagara. Its cold-climate fruit shows black cherry, currant and a hint of smoke. It is vegan-friendly, kosher and KFP, and it is the Niagara-red counterpart to the soft, floral Nava Blanc from the same winery.
Mood: Soft, ruby, Niagara.
"A kosher, KFP Canadian red from a cold climate, semi-sweet but never confectionary. It is a smart weeknight bottle for anyone looking for a change from the Kedem shelf."
Tasting Notes
The color is bright ruby. Black cherry and red currant lead the nose, with a whisper of smoke and dried herb. Lightly sweet and medium-bodied on the palate, it brings red-and-black berry fruit, soft tannins and a gentle mineral edge. The finish is smooth and cleanly sweet, and it is pleasantly persistent.
Food Pairing
A happy match for Shabbos brisket, roast chicken, pulled beef sandwiches or Motzei Shabbos pizza. At Kiddush it is lovely as well, next to sponge cake, honey cake, or a fruit-and-cheese platter.
