Tzafona Cellars Cold Climate Vidal Icewine
The Niagara Peninsula is the principal appellation of Canada’s cold climate wines, where the cold Canadian winters are tempered perfectly by the waters of Lake Ontario. Here the grapes ripen and accumulate their flavor slowly. The wines tend to be complex and balanced, with higher acidity and more mineral flavors—making them the most food-friendly wines in the world. Tzafona means northward. Look northward for this elegant expression of a unique appellation.
Yellow gold in color, with bursting notes of ripe lychees, dried apricots, honeysuckle and fresh ripe citrus on the nose. Full-bodied with a delightfully viscous, almost oily mouth-feel, on the palate again lychees, dried apricots and peaches, dried pears, candied orange peels, a touch of mango and honey with well-balanced medium to medium-plus acidity as well as notes of ginger and tangerines on the practically endless finish.
