Nikka Taketsuru Whiskey
Considered as the father of Japanese whisky, Masataka Taketsuru founded his company, Nikka, in the 1960s. It operates two distilleries: Miyagikyo, near Sendai and Yoichi, on the island of Hokkaido. Single malts from each distillery are available, as well as blends from the two sites sold under the founder’s name, Taketsuru.
Taketsuru is exclusively made from malted barley. The malt from Yoichi brings subtle smoky and charred nuances while the Miyagikyo malt lends it richness and smoothness. Its incredible balance and remarkable length are a tribute to the Japanese whisky tradition.
