Baron Edmond de Rothschild founded Carmel in 1882, which makes it Israel's oldest winery. Its Mediterranean is a warm-climate blend, leaning into old-vine Carignan and southern grape varieties that suit Israel's sun.

Mood: Sun-baked, savory, warm.

Our sommelier says
A red in the Mediterranean style, from the winery that helped rebuild Israel's wine industry.

Tasting notes

The nose brings black cherry, garrigue herbs, dried figs, and a curl of pepper. Rounded dark fruit meets savory herbs and warming spice, with soft-shouldered tannin. The finish is warm, herbal, and gently spicy, a sun-drenched Mediterranean fade.

Food pairing

Pour it with slow-braised lamb, with cholent, or with a brisket sandwich on Shabbos.
