Bat Shlomo Rose (750ml)
(1)Delivery across New York City: $5 in Crown Heights, $10 in Brooklyn, $20 in the rest of NYC. Free pickup at 511 Empire Blvd.
This dry, Bordeaux-style rosé comes from a boutique vineyard on the historic Rothschild wine trail in northern Israel, and it is built from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. It is cold-fermented in stainless steel for eight months and drinks pale, crisp, and serious.
Mood: Limestone, citrus, breeze.
Tasting notes
In the glass it is pale salmon, and the aromas are pink grapefruit, wild strawberry, and a flick of crushed herb. It runs dry and saline on the palate, with red currant, white peach, and a thread of stone. The finish is brisk and clean, and citrus zest carries the close.
Food pairing
It is built for a dairy Shabbos lunch, with Israeli salads, baked salmon, a salatim spread, or a creamy quiche. It also holds up to grilled chicken at a summer Yom Tov.
