Bartenura Moscato (750ml)
(10)Delivery across New York City: $5 in Crown Heights, $10 in Brooklyn, $20 in the rest of NYC. Free pickup at 511 Empire Blvd.
The blue bottle that built a category. Bartenura's Moscato is a sweet, lightly sparkling Moscato d'Asti DOCG from Piedmont, and it is still the bottle most people picture when they hear kosher wine.
Mood: Sweet, frothy, familiar.
Sommelier's note
"Cold enough to frost the blue glass, and nobody at the table asks what else is open."
Tasting notes
Peach, apricot and orange blossom lift straight out of the glass. The palate is sweet and low in alcohol, with a soft froth rather than a hard sparkle. It finishes on tangerine and ripe melon.
Pairing
The default kiddush bottle for a reason, and a fine match for fruit, cake, kugel and anything on the dessert table. It also does quiet work alongside spicy food.
