Bartenura Malvasia di Casorzo (750ml)
(2)Delivery across New York City: $5 in Crown Heights, $10 in Brooklyn, $20 in the rest of NYC. Free pickup at 511 Empire Blvd.
A sweet, lightly sparkling red from the Casorzo DOC in Piedmont, made from the local Malvasia. It is the bottle that surprises people who think they only like the blue one.
Mood: Sweet, fizzy, red.
Sommelier's note
"A red that drinks like dessert and disappears off the table faster than the cake it came with."
Tasting notes
Cherry, ripe strawberry and a little rose on the nose. The palate is sweet and soft with a gentle froth, low in alcohol and easy to drink cold. It finishes on red berry and a touch of sweet spice.
Pairing
Serve it chilled with dessert — chocolate, fruit, honey cake or a plate of rugelach. It is also a good sweet option for kiddush when a white moscato feels too predictable.
