Glenrothes 1992 Second Edition Single Malt Scotch Whiskey
The Glenrothes is a single malt Scotch whisky, produced at the Glenrothes Distillery, beside the Burn of Rothes in the Speyside region. The Glenrothes is used in blended scotch whiskies such as Cutty Sark and The Famous Grouse. The Glenrothes Distillery is owned by Edrington but The Glenrothes Single Malt is owned by Berry Bros. & Rudd.
This is the Second Edition of the Single Vintage 1992. The First Edition was produced and released in 2004. But John Ramsay, our Malt Master at the time, suggested some of the whisky needed more time in cask. Now, 10 years later, those casks have benefited from extra maturation and are now ready for the release of the Single Vintage 1992, Second Edition. This Second Edition is unchill-filtered and natural in colour, aged in a mixture of refilled Sherry Butts and American Hogsheads. It is bottled at 44.3%, a higher strength than the First Edition, giving it even greater intensity, a richer character and a different style.
